FEMALES Volume III: Frauenland
“FEMALES Volume III: Frauenland”
By Phil Barrington. 2016-2017.
Today. Yesterday. Tomorrow. Thee notes and house remain the same. The shadows fall similar in conflict. Though the walls crack louder.
My continuing focus on the female form, featuring characters expressing a range of emotions within situations throughout time and place in a world of constant turmoil.
Frauenland here, in this new series, is not the real-life district in Würzburg but my rural community populated by a variety of mysterious women; a place where all human times, beliefs and cosmic spaces are captured together.
“I used to be lost in us. Blurred were the lines that separated us. But now, I see our togetherness in our separateness. I see the you in me and the me in you. We are two independent beings who complement one another like photographs that are beautiful on their own but are enhanced when juxtaposed, creating an altogether new photograph.” Kamand Kojouri.
